Get in touch
Email is the only way to reach Homewire, and it goes straight to the editors. We’re most useful when a guide is wrong, out of date or missing something your router does differently.
Editors’ inbox
hello@192-168-1-1ip.unoWe read every message. We can’t always reply individually, but every reported error gets checked.
What to write to us about
The notes that help most point to something specific on a page. For example:
- a step, address or default login that didn’t match your equipment
- a menu or app screen that has changed since our last review
- a broken link, or a page that displays badly on your phone or browser
- a question the guide left unanswered, so we can cover it for everyone
Sending a correction
A short, specific report is the quickest to check. Something like this is ideal:

What I sawWhat the guide says, and what your screen showed instead
The firmware version usually sits on the router’s Status, System or About page once you’re signed in, or under device details in the maker’s app. Screenshots are welcome, as long as you follow the next section first.
Please don’t send passwords
Never email us your router admin password, your Wi-Fi password, a provider account login or an access code printed on your gateway. We don’t need any of them to check a guide, and email is a poor place to keep them. If a screenshot shows one, cover it before you attach the image.
Requests we have to turn down
Homewire is an editorial team, not a support desk. However clearly a problem is described, a few things are out of our reach:
- Sign in to your router. We have no access to equipment on your home network, and we wouldn’t want any.
- Recover or reset a password for you. Only you can do that, through the maker’s recovery options or a factory reset.
- Handle your internet account. Outages, bills, rented equipment and provider app logins belong with your provider.

What happens to your message
We use your email to check the page you wrote about and, when we can, to reply. We don’t add anyone to a mailing list or pass messages to advertisers. Our privacy and cookies page has the details.
Advertising and link offers
We don’t sell links, sponsored mentions or positions in our tables, so offers along those lines won’t get a reply. How we write and check guides explains why.
