Terms of use

These terms cover your use of Homewire and its guides at 192-168-1-1ip.uno. We’ve kept them in plain English. By using the site you agree to them, and if you don’t agree, please don’t use it.

Information, not professional support

Homewire publishes general guides about home routers and networks. They don’t replace your equipment’s manual, the manufacturer’s support team or your internet provider.

Menus, defaults and features differ between models and firmware versions. Where our steps and your manufacturer’s or provider’s instructions disagree, follow theirs.

Use the guides only on equipment you may manage

Use our guides only on routers, gateways and networks you own or have permission to manage, such as your own home network or a relative’s router they’ve asked you to set up. Signing in to someone else’s router or network without permission can break federal and state computer-crime laws. Nothing on Homewire is meant to help with that.

If your gateway belongs to your internet provider, check your agreement with them before changing advanced settings.

Changes you make are at your own risk

Changing router settings can interrupt your connection. A factory reset erases every custom setting, including your Wi-Fi name and password, and some connections need your provider’s login details before they work again. Power loss during a firmware update can leave a router unusable.

Before you change anything, note your current settings and keep your provider’s details on hand. You’re responsible for the changes you make and what follows from them.

Guides come as-is

We work to keep the guides accurate and review them regularly, but the site is provided “as is” and “as available.” We don’t promise that any guide is complete, current or right for your equipment, or that the site will always be online and free of errors.

How far our responsibility goes

As far as the law allows, Homewire isn’t liable for any loss or damage that comes from using the site or relying on its guides. That includes lost connectivity, lost settings or data, equipment problems, and the cost of a technician or new hardware.

Some states don’t allow certain warranty exclusions or limits on liability, so parts of this section and the one above may not apply to you.

Trademarks and affiliation

Router, gateway and provider names such as NETGEAR, TP-Link, Linksys and Xfinity are trademarks of their owners. We use them only to identify products and services. Homewire isn’t affiliated with, sponsored by or endorsed by any of these companies.

Using the site fairly

Please don’t try to disrupt the site, overload it with automated requests or reach parts of it that aren’t public.

Privacy

How we handle the small amount of data we receive is set out in our privacy and cookies policy.

How Homewire updates these terms

We may update these terms as the site changes. When we do, we’ll post the new version here and change the effective date at the top. If you keep using the site after that, the updated terms apply.
